“The Underground Village” by Kang Kyeong-ae

Happy New Year!

Our first session in the new year is scheduled for Wednesday, January 23. Please mark your calendars. Venue is the same, in the basement of the North Terrace Cafe (노스테라스 카페).

We will be discussing "The Underground Village" by Kang, Kyeong-ae (translated by Anton Hur).

This book is a collection: you will need to come with the last story read, that is, the story titled "The Underground Village"

I would recommend "Salt" for your next read, but of course, best to come having read the entire collection.

The book can be purchased on www.honfordstar.com (first book shown in their website) or through Amazon.

You can also read this title in Korean, via the following link:

I hope everyone can see the story in Korean through the link above.

I will hopefully find other interesting information on the author, translator, or stories and send out links when I send you all a reminder one week prior to the session!

In the meanwhile, if you come across anything, feel free to share.

One New Year's resolution can be to come to our meetings more often!

Warm wishes,

Yonjoo Hong
