Changdeokgung Palace is where the greatest number of kings lived and ruled the country during the 500-year-long Joseon Dynasty. Lying at the foot of Mt. Bukhansan, the palace displays a perfect harmony between nature and its buildings, with its spectacular layout standing of the mountain at its back and the surrounding nature embraced as a part of landscape gardening. In 1977, Changdeokgung Palace was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
We will enjoy learning the way its buildings blend into the surrounding landscape while walking through the palace as below;
1) The Palace Buildings: Nature as the Background of Architecture
2) The Rear Garden: Minimal Architectural Intervention
3) The symbolic (sequencing), the practical (connecting), and the physical (breathing) layout of the spaces
4) Understanding 19th century palatial residences, Hanok
** Please remember to wear your 'FACEMASK'.
